Movie fans – help curate an epic movie marathon, and help a good cause at the same time
British film journalist Emma Thrower is currently fund raising for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation by asking you to suggest titles for her to watch in an epic movie marathon.
Here are a few details…
As 99.9% of you know, Laura and I lost our dad to motor neurone disease last November. THIS November, Laura and I are coming to terms with the fact that – completely out of the blue – our incredible mum has been diagnosed with a rather horrendous case of lung cancer. And yes, as I’m sure you can imagine, it’s extremely shit and incredibly scary…
So here’s the deal: you are in control. You are going to choose the films I watch, be they amazing, terrible, or just something you want to make me watch to curate the movie marathon to end all movie marathons!
It’s £5 (or dollars or euros or whatever currency you use) per film, so if you fancy personally choosing a little batch of films for £20, well, that’d be four films of your choice. If you donate £50, you can choose me 10 films. It’s a pretty simple idea. I’ll be watching the films in the order I receive your donations/film choices and will be sure to let you know when it is ‘your turn’.
You can read all the details – and, of course, donate – here at Emma’s Just Giving Page, and you can keep track of her progress by following the hashtag #ThrowAFilm
So, spare what you can, and get those suggestions flying.
Emma may regret this…
