Get your next generation collection started with these 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles
Home video technology has come a long, long way in the over the last 40-odd years. Various analogue and digital tape and disc formats have promised ever-improving picture and sound quality, while streaming, though not yet able to match pure quality of physical media, offers undeniable convenience.
And now 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, perhaps the last physical movie medium we’ll see, are almost upon us. Fox have announced a selection of movies using the new format. While not all could be considered classics, they have all clearly been chosen to showcase the visual and audio prowess of 4 Ultra HD. If you aren’t ready to upgrade your hardware yet, don’t worry – these all include the regular Blu-ray disc in the package.
We’ll add more links as further titles are announced and more studios join in. I wonder how long it will be before we see steelbooks in the new format?
You can pre-order right now from HMV and Zavvi. Prices are the same with both, and comparable to those found when Blu-ray launched. As the market picks up I’m sure we’ll see prices drop. Of course, having some available players will help…
Will you be making the leap to 4k?
@hmvtweets @zavvi numbered steelbooks at last !! Now we will know that 1000 means 1000 ?
Firstly, shit films to start with. Secondly, It was too expensive switching to blu ray so i will not be upgrading again. Steelbooks are better anyway.
